Be wifmannes beweddung (Wif)
This formula outlines what a would-be bridegroom must promise his beloved. It should probably be dated to the early eleventh century and copies of the text survive in three manuscript collections. The law sets out the property entitlement of the bride and accounted for how the betrothal and the marriage ceremony should take place.
