Inquest of Sheriffs (Inq Sher1)
This text survives in two copies, one from the chronicle of Gervase of Canterbury and another from a legal manuscript collection now held at the Bodleian Library in Oxford. The inquest was held in 1170 and was an attempt to correct the abuses of sheriffs following complaints against their conduct.
