Constitutions of Clarendon (Con Clar)
The constitutions were an attempt by Henry II to set out certain royal rights and customs as they had existed during the reign of his grandfather, Henry I. They were an attempt to restrict ecclesiastical privileges and curb the power of the Church courts and the extent of Papal authority in England.
